Incometer Precision Measurement

PAT Incometer Systems:

Incometers (Inner Contour Meter) are the quickest, most accurate way
of determining Roundness and Cylindricity of bores. With the accuracy
of ± 1 micron, Incometers quickly determine circularity and cylindrical
form by taking a multitude of measurement points from inside the bore.

Incometers are computer-controlled, thus making it possible to perform
detailed analyses of the measurements taken. Operating with Windows
software, the Incometer system is compatible with the latest computer
hardware (i.e. Pentium IV). Radial, Axial or 3-D measurements can be
performed. “Hole Masking” is an option to measure 2-stroke engines
that can omit ports from the analysis.

Data collected runs through a series of calculations for Roundness,
Cylindricity, Straightness and Parallelism. Outputs are presented in
numerical and graphical format. The results can be transmitted to any
SPC data collector, EXCEL or other program for long term data analysis.
Plots are extremely easy to understand and clearly display the actual
condition of the bore.

All Incometers are highly portable. The entire system consists of a precise
measuring unit, an electronic control unit, and a computer system. Incometer
software can also be used with notebook PCs which make the system very
well-suited for field use.

There is a standard Incometer model for bore diameters ranging from 16mm
to 305mm, for axial depths of up to 400mm, for inner form and alignment of
bores (such as crankshaft bearings), and for multiple cylinder measurements
in engine production areas.

Applications

Incometer systems are ideal for engine manufacturers at all stages – initial
design and testing, production quality control, or field testing of wear and
distortion.

Other applications include: inspection of valve guide and seats in cylinder
heads, hydraulic cylinders, sleeves and seals, bearing seats, axle housings
on machine tools, aerospace components, robots, and military equipment.
